Our Vision
The world we live in
- We’re committed to sustainability
In recognition and response to the impact our profession can have on society, the economy and the future. - Living within limits
Our industry is highly visible when the earth’s resources are so threatened. We shall be responsible in our solutions. - Being accountable every day
The way we operate our offices, the travel choices we make, the delivering of services, all observe environmental respect. - Looking forward
Just because a method of doing something has always been the way to do it doesn’t mean that it can’t be improved. - Spreading the word
We always try to go further; when we do - and it could be beneficial to others - we should make the facts public.
Of course this doesn’t mean we all wear sandals, hug trees and live in tunnels under motorways. Far from it, we are commercially astute, exceptionally well-educated and professional to the highest degree. We just think you should know how much we care about what we do, and why we’re a breath of fresh air to work with.
As they say, "the proof of the pudding is in the eating" (yum) – so now we’ve whetted your appetite, how about lunch?
Welcome to the 'about us' section of the website.
So, what do you want to know… how our corporate objectives are carefully aligned to our financial performance in established sectors, how we work with X number of top clients who value the stuff we do so and keep coming back for more… really? Nah – we thought NOT!
You want to know about why we work here, what our staff are like, so that you can think about whether you could work with us or for us!
Now obviously no company stays in existence if it does not make a profit, but at JMP this isn’t our only purpose in life. The company is owned by the staff for the staff who are also our greatest asset. They are driven by a strong sense of purpose, which is underpinned by clear understanding of our company vision.
Our Vision
So what is our vision I hear you shout! Where are the corporate words?
Being rather different, we decided to produce a graphic vision to help communicate effectively. Obviously we are an 'artistically challenged' bunch, but the benefit of the graphic vision is that it is naturally far more powerful than just words (after all apparently only 15% of our senses are audio!). Our staff will be able to recall the description from memory, but for the rest of you we have provided some words below to explain.
There is a serious point to this – this diagram reflects the result of lots and lots of talking about what the vision for JMP should be with our staff. We managed to establish unprecedented agreement on sort of business we are proud to be!
Right, let’s attempt an explanation… Once you’ve read this and looked at the diagram, try shutting your eyes and visualising it. Our staff can all repeat it this way – a challenge for you: - go on, now repeat your organisation’s vision from memory?
CLIENTS - most important, so right at the top! They are broad ranging and include a wide range of public and private sector organisations.
PARTNERSHIP ? we work in partnership with our clients (denoted by the holding-hands).
OTHER PARTNERS ? we also work in close partnership with teams, who are leading lights in their fields (denoted by the small light bulbs)
THE A TEAM ? we recognise the need to attract the best, most motivated staff to JMP (the happy blue people)
JMP ? the leading light in the transport industry (signified by the big light bulb). Note: the light bulb also signifies that JMP are inspirational, innovative thinkers (indeed in 1879 Thomas Edison invented the light bulb which itself had a truly global impact).
COMPLEMENTARY SYSTEMS ? the lampshade encompasses the complementary systems and aspects of the company which make JMP work efficiently and effectively. From left to right these are the creation of profit (Pound and Euro symbols), happy motivated staff (smiley face), flexible staff able to respond effectively to deliver effective solutions (ballerina), good internal systems for managing accounts, marketing information, projects, etc (computer), strong management able to make and delegate decisions efficiently (strongman), good training and staff development (mortar board and scroll).
SUCCESSFUL SOLUTIONS ? the yellow arrows represent beams of inspired, innovative solutions.
BREADTH & DEPTH OF CAPABILITY ? the green modes are indicative of our ability to provide a wide range of consultancy services covering a broad spectrum of applications and systems (computer), including new innovations yet to be defined (question mark), all embracing the principles of sustainability.
OUR RESPONSIBILITY - we aspire to make the world a better place by doing our bit to promote the benefits of sustainable transport.
