Board Directors

Managing Director

Gordon Baker is the Managing Director and an Executive Board member of JMP, with a strongly-held belief in the Company’s vision to deliver sustainable transport solutions. He has a keen interest in the national and global effects of transport trends on accessibility, health and welfare, and believes that the pace of change requires us to regularly challenge traditional norms, many of which may be regarded as not keeping pace with the challenges of current and future decision-making.

Executive Board Director

Alan, who is responsible for our corporate People & Systems functions, has a career in transport and consultancy which spans some 25 years. An economist by background he joined the Board of JMP in 2003 from Steer Davies Gleave where he led their transport planning group.

Having started his career in transport as a British Rail sponsored economics research student he maintains a strong interest and involvement in the rail sector which has seen him lead assignments to develop the business case for rail and metro projects in the UK, Asia, the Middle East and Africa. In recent years he has drawn together his transport strategy and policy development advice with his appraisal expertise to lead numerous regional and sub regional transport strategy development and prioritisation programmes for local authorities and regional bodies.

Executive Board Director

Karen Barrett has been with JMP since 1997, first as Company Accountant, then as Company Secretary and was appointed to the Executive Board in 2010. She is responsible for the financial and legal matters for the Company.

She has a Civil Engineering degree from Birmingham University and has kept her interest in engineering and transport during her career whilst working for PKF, British Waterways Laing Homes and Robert Benaim & Associates. She is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA) and an Associate of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ACIS).
